Course description
Climate services play an important role in socio-economic development and benefit significantly from interdisciplinary collaboration. The main challenge in the field of climate services is the “communication gap” between scientific centers and end users. Climate services require proper interaction between the service recipient and its provider, as well as an effective access mechanism to ensure timely response. Climate communication requires a special approach: the ability to translate complex statistical probabilities into the language of specific decisions, to work with uncertainty, and to overcome psychological barriers in perceiving crisis information. Effective communication not only informs but also mobilizes communities to take action on climate change adaptation and mitigation.
The goal of the course is to develop skills in communication strategies in the field of climate services for various consumers.
