Course includes

3 modules (Module #1 – Climate System Components; Module #2 – Interactions and Feedback Mechanisms. Module #3 – Climate Information.; 1 lecture containing a number of related topics; 2 practical assignments; 3 intermediate tests and 1 final test. The course grade consists of averaging the accumulated sum of points (the arithmetic sum of the points for completing all course module assignments) and a final test.

Course description

The course “Introduction to the Climate System” is one of the core components of the professional training cycle for master’s students enrolled in the program “Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.”

Course aim: To equip master’s students with systematic scientific knowledge of the climate system’s structure, functioning, and dynamics, along with modern analytical methods for climate data and model outputs, enabling them to address research and applied challenges in climate services for mitigation and adaptation.

The course provides students with a deep understanding of fundamental climate system patterns, mastery of key modern climatology concepts, and the competencies required for research and practical application of climate knowledge.
