On 7-9 October 2021, the Second All-Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Congress dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Hydrometeorological Service of Ukraine took place on the premises of Odessa State Environmental University (OSENU). This year, due to quarantine restrictions, the event was held in a hybrid format.
Welcoming remarks were made by: Sergiy Stepanenko – Rector of OSENU, DSc, Prof., and Mykola Kulbida – Director of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre of the SES of Ukraine, PhD.
The conference was attended by representatives of Hydrometeorological Centres from various parts of Ukraine (Kyiv, Lviv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Mariupol, Sumy, Zaporizhia), representatives of Kherson Hydrometeorological and Kharkiv Environmental Protection Colleges of OSENU, representatives of many other structural subdivisions of the Hydrometeorological Service of Ukraine (aviation meteorological stations, hydrometeorological stations, etc.).
The first day of the Hydrometeorological Congress was dedicated to plenary sessions, at which leading experts in the field of hydrometeorology delivered reports.
At the beginning of the second day of the congress, a round table on ‘Challenges of Establishment the of Climate Service in Ukraine’, which discussed the results of a survey among representatives of the Hydrometeorological Service of Ukraine, was held under the Erasmus+ ClimEd project.
In the afternoon there were workshops in the following areas: ‘Agrometeorology’, ‘Hydrology and Hydroecology’, ‘Climatology’, ‘Meteorology’, ‘Oceanology’ and ‘Hydrometeorological Education and Practice’.
