Course description
Research on climate communication should focus on finding the most effective communicative means to bridge the gap between climatology and public engagement. Public engagement is inherently valued as a means of democratic expression of opinions, regardless of its outcome in addressing the issue of climate change. An effective scientific communication strategy aimed at reaching a diverse audience should focus on equality and inclusivity. Establishing communication, utilizing diverse channels, building trust, and engaging on an emotional level are key to effectively delivering climate science to a diverse audience.
The main goal of the course is to develop skills in modern communication studies regarding climate change, to increase public climate awareness, and to educate about assessments of climate impacts and climate actions.
