Course description
The course “International Agreements and National Legislation in the Field of Climate Change” is one of the core components of the professional training cycle for master’s students enrolled in the program “Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.” The course will contribute to the development of analytical skills in the field of environmental/climate law, understanding of states’ legal obligations and enforcement mechanisms, as well as the formation of practical approaches to the implementation of international norms into national legislation.
The main objective is to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of international agreements and national legislation in the field of climate change, as well as their role in global and national climate policy regulation. The course examines key international treaties (the Paris Agreement, the Kyoto Protocol, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), their implementation mechanisms, as well as legislative initiatives and Ukraine’s policy on climate change.
