Course description

Module №1 “Assessment of Climate Change Mitigation Strategies in the Economic Sector” of the course “Climate change mitigation and adaptation: case studies and best practices in agriculture” is aimed at forming systemic theoretical knowledge and applied competencies necessary for developing climate action strategies in the livestock sector. Particular attention is paid to a comprehensive analysis of the mutual influence between livestock farming and climate change, as well as the adaptation of technological processes to local conditions. A key aspect of the training is the critical assessment of mitigation strategies, with a focus on minimizing methane emissions as the main factor of the industry’s anthropogenic impact. The program provides for the study of the mechanisms of heat stress occurrence in animals, analysis of its negative impact on productivity and health, as well as the development and implementation of effective technological ways to mitigate it.
