Course description

The course “Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies in Ukraine for energy” is designed to help students develop a systematic understanding of the relationship between the energy sector and global climate change. The energy sector is one of the key sources of greenhouse gas emissions, as well as one of the sectors most vulnerable to climate change (extreme temperatures, droughts, floods, infrastructure damage). In this context, there is a need to implement effective strategies for decarbonization, improving energy efficiency, developing renewable energy sources, and adapting energy systems to new climatic conditions. At the organizational level, the course trains specialists capable of:

  • assessing the carbon footprint of energy systems;
  • develop decarbonization strategies;
  • implement adaptation measures in energy infrastructure.

At the national and regional levels, the course contributes to:

  • the implementation of climate and energy policies;
  • strengthening energy security;
  • achieving sustainable development goals and climate neutrality.

The course focuses not only on theoretical training but also on the analysis of practical case studies in the energy sector, the integration of international experience, and the development of independent strategic solutions.
