ThingsBoard

ThingsBoard is a component of the ClimEd Scientific and Educational Platform designed for collecting, transmitting, storing, visualising, and analysing data received from automated environmental monitoring systems. The platform provides access to current measurements through interactive dashboards, graphs, tables, and maps.

Within ClimEd, ThingsBoard is used to work with data generated by sensor-based and IoT devices installed as part of educational, research, and community initiatives. Depending on the configuration of the monitoring stations, users can view air temperature, atmospheric pressure, relative humidity, concentrations of particulate matter PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10.0, CO₂ levels, and other environmental parameters.

The interactive dashboards make it possible to track current values, analyse changes over time, compare data from different monitoring locations, and identify periods of elevated pollutant concentrations or unfavourable meteorological conditions. Users can select a time interval, explore detailed graphs, and use the data for further analysis.

ThingsBoard is used in the educational process during the delivery of ClimEd courses, practical and laboratory classes, and student and PhD research. Platform data can support the study of environmental monitoring principles, air quality analysis, assessment of the influence of meteorological conditions on pollution, time-series analysis, and the development of applied climate and environmental services.

The platform also supports research and community-based initiatives related to the development of monitoring networks, citizen environmental monitoring, sensor testing, and the engagement of students and local communities in data collection and interpretation. Open access to selected dashboards facilitates the dissemination of monitoring results and improves public awareness of environmental conditions.

Thus, ThingsBoard connects physical monitoring systems with digital data-presentation tools and complements other components of the ClimEd ecosystem. It supports the full pathway from automated measurement to data visualisation, analysis, educational use, and practical application.
