The Black Sea Day 2026 Symposium will be held on 31 October 2026 at Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University in a hybrid format (on-site and online).
The Symposium aims to bring together researchers from different fields to explore the Black Sea and the wider region from a broad range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives.
It welcomes research on Black Sea hydrology and oceanography, with a particular focus on marine and coastal processes, hydrodynamics, water resources, climate variability and change, environmental dynamics, and the functioning and resilience of aquatic ecosystems. Contributions addressing environmental monitoring, pollution, biodiversity, ecosystem services, and the sustainable management of the Black Sea are also encouraged.
The programme also provides a platform for interdisciplinary research on the wider dimensions of the Black Sea region, including its societies, history and cultural heritage, languages and literature, politics and international relations, law, economy, and other related topics.
Researchers, academics and experts from different fields are invited to submit papers presenting the results of their research.
Submission of Papers
Papers should be submitted by 1 October 2026.
The total length of the paper should be 3,000–7,000 characters including spaces.
Papers must be written in English.

Participation in the Symposium and electronic publication of the accepted papers are free of charge.
Paper Formatting Requirements
- Papers should be submitted electronically in .doc or .docx format. The file should be named after the first author (main speaker), for example: Ivanov.docx.
- Paper size: A4 (210 × 297 mm), portrait orientation.
- Font: Times New Roman, 14 pt.
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.
- First-line indentation: 1 cm.
- Line spacing: 1.0.
- Automatic hyphenation: off.
- Text alignment: justified.
- 1st line: title of the paper — CAPITAL LETTERS, bold, centred.
- 2nd line: full name, academic degree and academic title of the main speaker — bold italics; full names, academic degrees and academic titles of co-authors — italics.
- 3rd line: affiliation, including the full name of the institution.
- 4th line: blank.
- The main text begins on the 5th line.
