Course description
The course “Data and Climate Products for Climate Services” is part of the professional Development Programme “Climate Services”.
The main goal of the course is to develop professional competencies in participants — employees of hydrometeorological centers and related institutions — necessary for the effective handling of climate data and the provision of climate services. Particular emphasis is placed on practical aspects, including the organization, storage, and processing of climate time series, database management, query execution, and ensuring data quality and accessibility.
The course is designed to bridge the gap between primary meteorological observations and their applied use in climate services. Participants will acquire practical skills in obtaining and integrating data from multiple sources, followed by the development of climate products tailored to user needs.
The course also explores approaches to designing information products for climate risk assessment, supporting sectoral decision-making, and facilitating adaptation to climate change.
