Course description

The course “Impacts and Risks: Assessing Vulnerability to Climate Change” is one of the main parts of the professional cycle of disciplines for the master’s program “Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation”. The course is aimed at training specialists who are able to conduct a comprehensive assessment of climate change impacts, identify vulnerable groups and sectors, analyze risks and develop effective adaptation measures. Participants will gain knowledge about vulnerability assessment methods, climate risk forecasting tools and ways to integrate these assessments into the decision-making process.

The goal of the course is to form in students a systematic scientific understanding of the impacts of climate change and the mechanisms of climate risk formation, as well as to develop the ability to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the vulnerability of natural and socio-economic systems, identify vulnerable groups and sectors, analyze risks and justify effective adaptation solutions taking into account modern methods of forecasting and supporting management decision-making.
